Engineering/Motor Vehicle
At St Catherine’s College, we take immense pride in offering a thriving Motor Vehicle and Engineering curriculum, designed to inspire students to achieve their God-given potential and prepare them to stand shoulder to shoulder with their peers locally, nationally, and globally.
We have been offering a Motor Vehicle programme since 2010. Students continue to enjoy exceptional success, with a strong track record of progressing into apprenticeships and further education in practical-based vocations.
In 2024, we expanded our provision with the introduction of the NCFE Level 1 / 2 Technical Award in Engineering, offering exciting new pathways for students interested in this dynamic field. Together, these programmes equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in hands-on, technical industries and beyond.
Our curriculum is designed to:
- Provide real-world, vocational learning experiences, enabling students to develop practical skills in motor vehicle maintenance and engineering.
- Build technical expertise and a solid understanding of engineering principles through the use of industry-standard tools and equipment.
- Inspire ambition and resilience, preparing students for success in apprenticeships, further education, and technical careers.
- Foster transferable skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and attention to detail, which are essential for thriving in both professional and personal contexts.
Students benefit from:
- A fully equipped, purpose-built Motor Vehicle Unit located at Birch Close Industrial Estate in Eastbourne, a short distance from the main college site.
- A curriculum that combines practical, hands-on learning with theoretical understanding, ensuring students are well-prepared for industry demands.
- Pathways into apprenticeships and further education, offering a gateway to fulfilling careers in motor vehicle technology, engineering, and related industries.
We are committed to ensuring that every student has access to high-quality vocational education that aligns with their ambitions and equips them to excel in technical fields. By fostering confidence, independence, and a passion for innovation, we prepare students to compete with the very best in a constantly evolving world.
