St Catherine’s College celebrate outstanding GCSE results for their Year 11 pupils

Joy prevailed as Year 11 came into school to collect and celebrate their outstanding results.

The ‘Class of 2020’ has had to cope with extraordinarily difficult circumstances, unable to sit GCSE exams and losing the rites of passage associated with completing their secondary school phase by the Covid pandemic.  Having suffered a degree of uncertainty and disruption that is without precedent, students enjoyed the opportunity to share those exciting envelope opening moments at school with friends, teachers and parents.

Congratulations to all our students on gaining the successes they earned through their hard work and dedication.  A special mention goes to Mia Lozinski who achieved a grade 9 in every subject; she now progresses to Eastbourne College as a winner of the Professor Soddy scholarship. Theodora Redmill gained nine grade 9s amongst her eleven grade 7s to 9s; she joins Roedean in September. Other academic successes include Hannah Cheeseman, Lois Hilton, Navpreet Sandhu and Julius Stokes who achieved ten GCSEs at grade 7 to 9, while Alice King and Fahad Saif also achieved a majority of grade 9s amongst their results.

Headteacher Mr Berhane paid tribute to the whole St Catherine’s Community as he thanked pupils and staff for their hard work and dedication, and expressed gratitude to parents for their support.  St Catherine’s College wishes the Class of 2020 every success and they progress to the next stage of their education.
