At St Catherine’s College, our Drama curriculum is designed to prepare students to stand shoulder to shoulder with their peers locally, nationally, and globally. Rooted in our school’s mission, Drama empowers students to achieve their God-given potential by fostering ambition, hard work, resilience, and responsibility.

Drama offers students a unique opportunity to explore and understand the complexities of the world around them. Through this creative and engaging subject, students:

  • Develop performance skills that build confidence and self-expression.
  • Explore diverse techniques to create meaning and tackle real-world issues, promoting empathy, tolerance, and a deeper appreciation of different perspectives.
  • Cultivate transferable skills, including teamwork, creativity, self-discipline, and perseverance, which prepare them for success in all areas of life.
  • Take risks and embrace challenges, stepping out of their comfort zones to grow as resilient individuals capable of adapting to new situations.

The curriculum also places strong emphasis on reflection and analysis, enabling students to:

  • Review and refine their own and others’ work, becoming thoughtful and analytical learners.
  • Respond constructively to evaluation and feedback, deepening their understanding of what contributes to effective drama and performance.
  • Build critical thinking skills that enhance their ability to communicate ideas and engage in live performance as both creators and audiences.

Beyond the classroom, extracurricular opportunities enrich students' experiences and foster a lifelong love of drama and performance. These include:

  • School productions, such as the highly successful School of Rock, performed in July 2024.
  • Drama clubs and trips, which broaden students’ exposure to live theatre and inspire their creative journeys.
  • Opportunities to showcase their talents, encouraging confidence and an appreciation of the performing arts.

Our Drama curriculum is inclusive, ambitious, and designed to develop confident, reflective, and culturally aware individuals. By equipping students with the skills, creativity, and resilience to succeed, Drama plays a vital role in preparing them to thrive in their personal, academic, and professional lives.
