Teacher of Computer Science

Salary:  TMS / UPS

Fixed term post:  6 January – 3 April 2020

We have recently recruited a new Subject Leader of Computer Science who will be joining St Catherine’s College at Easter 2020.  We have a temporary vacancy in between our existing member of staff leaving and our new employee starting and are looking to employ a temporary Teacher of Computer Science from 6 January to 3 April.

You should be an inspirational, dynamic and enthusiastic qualified teacher with strong subject knowledge and the ability to demonstrate skills such as coding, digital creation and working with emerging technologies.

We teach OCR Computer Science at St Catherine’s College at KS4.  In addition to this we currently have a cohort of Year 11’s taking the Cambridge National Qualification.  Computer Science teaching takes place across four purpose-built Computer Science classrooms, recognising the mix of theory and practical that a Science subject covers.  The teaching programming language currently being studied is Python and familiarity with that would be beneficial.

School-Home Support Practitioner

Salary range:  £19695 - £22,231 per annum – depending on experience

School-Home Support is a dynamic charity with proven impact.  For over 35 years it has been working with children and young people struggling to stay in school due to a wide range of complex family issues.  It gets children and young people back into school ready to learn, whatever it takes.

There is a vacancy for a School-Home Support Practitioner to work for 5 days per week, school term time plus four weeks.  The post holder will be based within St Catherine’s College in Eastbourne.

The post holder will be based within St Catherine’s College in Eastbourne, focusing their support on improving attendance.  The post-holder will work in close partnership with school staff to deliver a programme of casework and other activities to promote educational outcomes for disadvantaged children and families.  The post-holder will need to be persistent, resilient and tenacious along with having the experience of working with hard to engage parents.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate, who will have good experience of working effectively with social and emotional factors affecting a child’s capacity to learn, strong abilities in engaging challenging children and their families, and a confident ability to form professional partnerships with children and their families along with experience of transition work.

The post-holder will work alongside key school staff in school to promote excellent attendance, reduce levels of absence and work with children and families to promote high levels of attendance, punctuality and engagement.
