APPRENTICE TEACHING ASSISTANTS

These are exciting new posts at St Catherine’s College.  We are looking for self-motivated candidates who wish to train as a Teaching Assistant to support our pupils learning in their lessons.

The apprenticeship will be made up of practical employment experience whilst having an education programme that will lead to a nationally recognised qualification.  You will learn to work in a school environment supporting the learning and care of pupils.  You will be working with experienced staff and will learn job specific skills.

Apprentice training will be provided locally by Heathercroft Training Academy.  The qualification earnt at the end of the apprenticeship will be L2 Supporting Teaching and Learning Qualification.

The role is for 30 hours per week, term time only.  Apprentices are paid for 46 weeks of the year.  Apprentices will study during their working week.

The salary for these apprenticeships assumes that apprentices will be aged under 19 or aged over 19 but in their first year of apprenticeship.

Salary:  £7,118.80 per annum pro rata

PA & Clerk to the Governing Body

Salary: Single Status Grade 6 for PA part of role (34 hours) & Single Status Grade 7 for Clerk role (3 hours)

37 hours per week – term time only

We require an additional PA to provide secretarial and organisational support to the Headteacher, SENCO and Senior Leadership Team.  In addition the post holder will be the Clerk to the Governing Body providing an efficient professional service to the Governing Body.

This is a busy and demanding post and the successful applicant should have the ability to liaise and build positive relationships with the Headteacher, Governing Body, Senior Leadership Team and other PA’s within the Administration Team; have experience of undertaking a range of secretarial tasks; experience of producing documents to a high standard using Microsoft Word and Excel and be highly IT literate.

There is a requirement for the post holder to be accredited or prepared to undertake accreditation as being able to work at a level equivalent to the BTEC Level 3 Clerks to Governing Bodies award.

Teaching Assistant English

Single Status Grade 3 - £16,755 - £17,007 pa pro rata

30 hours per week term time only

Permanent post

We are urgently looking to employ an experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to assist in promoting the learning of all pupils, including but not exclusively, those with special educational needs. The successful applicant will support individuals and groups of pupils in and out of class.  This post is specifically to support English at St Catherine’s College.

The duties of the post will depend on the experience, training and TA status of the successful applicant, but will include: delivering tailored teaching activities to pupils; making sure the pupils you support are able to engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson or activity; listen to pupils read and read to pupils as a class; guide and monitor pupil progress; provide support during exams or school trips; coordinate specific areas of teaching support once you have the right level of experience.
